We’re excited to welcome the signing of young striker, Marvellous Onabirekhanlen!
The 19-year-old forward man joins in time for the start of the new season and bolsters our attacking options. Marvellous is a former Walsall player, having come through the Saddlers academy and signed a one-year deal, which expired at the end of 2023. Following the conclusion of his contract, he joined Sporting Khalsa (Step 4) to start 2024 where scored a handful of goals. Whilst playing for Khalsa, Marv was also training with Coventry City’s U21s.
Upon bolstering his attacking line, Tim Flowers said; “Marvellous is a boy that I’ve followed from the front end of last season. He was at Walsall as a kid and then played for Sporting Khalsa where he was scoring goals. Towards the end of last season, he was also playing for Coventry City’s U21s. I spoke to Duanne Darby who has got a contact there, and Duanne said they were really close to keeping him and putting him in the Coventry system, which I know is something Marv would like to do. He trialled at Leamington this summer for a few weeks and has played some minutes for them. When I realised he wasn’t going to be offered anything there and knowing we’re bare with Alex Cameron as our only ‘target man’ type, we were quick to bring him in. He had his first session the other night and he’ll be in the squad, so we’re looking forward to working with him.”
Welcome to the Reds, Marvellous.
Marv is available for selection for our opening game of the season against Lowestoft Town.
