Redditch United suffered a 1-2 defeat to AFC Sudbury, failing in their efforts to earn a third successive home victory.
Mike Fowler made two changes to the line-up from the victory over Stamford, with Luke Ward coming in to replace Harrison Mole and Jack Loughran replacing Billy Fielding, who missed out with an injury.
After a minute’s applause in memory of Ethan McLeo,d who devastatingly passed away last week, the game was underway, and Redditch were looking dominant from the get-go.
Within 15 minutes, Morgan Owen was shown an early booking after bringing down Jacob Goredema.
However, Mike Fowler’s side would find themselves ahead shortly after, when Jack Loughran squared Owen’s long ball across the box for Alex Cameron to tap home another and add another to his tally this season.
Sudbury’s first effort of the game fell to Fin Corrigan, after a loose Redditch pass set him away, but his outside of the box effort was dragged wide of the post.
The Reds were forced into an early change as Reece Flanagan replaced Matt Warburton, before Fabian Reynolds nearly made it two, when he whipped in a teasing cross into the box, but Lennon Maclorg tipped it away from the toes of Cameron.
On the stroke of half-time, there were shouts for a handball after Luke Ward’s clearance looked to have hit the hand of the Sudbury attacker. Tyrese Warmington saved the first effort, but the deflection fell to Kien Connolly who equalised for the visitors.
Early into the second half, Flanagan cut inside and had an effort blocked. There were appeals for a penalty from the former Walsall man, but nothing was given.
The midfielder then won the ball back high up, releasing Danny King who ran into the area, but his ball across goal to Reynolds was dealt with at the last second.
Loughran and Tyler Bruck both had efforts saved, before Liam Loughlan was later fouled outside the box. Flanagan stepped up to take the freekick, but it was punched away well by the goalkeeper.
In the 84th minute, it was heartbreak for Redditch when a short Sudbury corner was whipped into the box and Corrigan headed home the winner into the roof of the net above Warmington.
Fowler’s side pushed at the death for the equaliser but just couldn’t quite find the target.
