Berkhamsted Match Report

Redditch United saw their journey in the Emirates FA Cup come to an end after a 2-0 loss to Berkhamsted at home. Ryan Blake and Luke Andrews grabbed the goals for the visitors.

There was only one change to the lineup from the draw to Peterborough Sports as Robbie Bunn replaced Billy Fielding in the middle of the park.

Tyler Bruck had the first effort of the game when he drove forward into space down the middle, but his left-footed effort was wide of the post.

However, the visitors would find themselves ahead after 12 minutes, when the cross flew over Rory Brown and was headed in at the back post by Rayn Blake.

Harrison Hazard cut inside from the left and dribbled his way into the box before passing to Szhem Whyte-Hall, but his left footed effort was held by the goalkeeper.

A cross came in from the left straight to the head of Whyte-Hall, but it was too close to him and went over the bar. Minutes later, Szhem had another brilliant opportunity to equalise when Jack Willow’s cross was headed wide from close range.

Stan Straw then saw his leaping header at the back post saved superbly by the foot of Hubert Graczyk, and the Reds would stay behind going into the break, despite their efforts.

It was quiet start to the second half, with the most notable chance falling to Tyler Bruck in the 62nd minute, when once again drove forwards but his shot was just over the bar, before Hazard’s effort skimmed the left post.

Straight down the other end, Berkhamsted broke quickly and Straw threw himself in front of the ball to deny a second for the visitors.

However, with 10 minutes to play, Luke Andrews pounced on a failed clearance, and slotted home a second to send his side through to the fourth qualifying round of the FA Cup.

Redditch United XI: Brown; Shambrook, Straw, Owen; King, Willow, Soleman, Bunn (C), Hazard; Whyte-Hall, Bruck.

Subs: Foreshaw (81’), Thompson-McKenzie (67’), Cutler, Murchison (85’), Fielding (58’), Johnson.
