Redditch United were back to winning ways after a last-gasp victory over Bury Town in the Southern League Premier Central. Liam Loughlan and Alex Cameron scored two quick-fire goals in the first half, before Luke Ward’s injury time header secured the three points after a Bury comeback.
Liam Loughlan and Fabian Reynolds returned to the starting XI after being on the bench in the defeat away at Needham Market.
The game kicked off at 3:03pm in support of the 3UP initiative, which allows a third promotion into the EFL.
Sustained Redditch pressure resulted in Loughlan picking up the ball on the edge of the box and curling his effort into the left corner to give his side an early lead in the 15th minute.
Three minutes later, a Redditch break saw Reece Flanagan play a great through ball to Cameron, who doubled the lead by finishing into the bottom corner.
Bury Town would pull one back shortly, when George Quantrell headed in a cross from the left.
Flanagan curled his shot over the bar, before Harry Eden also fired an effort over.
Mike Fowler’s side entered the break with the lead, but the visitors had got themselves back into the game.
Just after half-time, Redditch came close when a great piece of play from Reynolds found Cameron in the box, who flicked the ball back to Robbie Bunn, but his effort was saved.
Cameron was booked a few minutes later, which was met with an angry reaction from the Redditch dugout.
Billy Fielding and Bruce Minaker were both brought on in place of Fabian Reynolds and Matt Warburton.
A freekick from Bury was curled over the bar in the 69th minute. Minutes later, Jamie McGrath would equalise for the visitors to put his side level.
Minaker was booked shortly after for a challenge, as both sides began to grow frustrated in the game.
There were six minutes of added time. Goalscorer Loughlan whipped in a cross in the dying minutes, which was finished with a bullet header from Luke Ward to seal the three points for Mike Fowler’s side.
