Redditch United Backs Town of Culture 2028 Bid

Redditch United is proud to announce its full support for the town’s ambitious bid to become the UK Town of Culture in 2028, backing a vision that celebrates creativity, heritage and community spirit across Redditch.

The bid, led by Redditch Borough Council and partners from across the region, aims to showcase the unique stories of the town while driving economic growth, social regeneration and a lasting cultural legacy.

As a club deeply rooted in the community, Redditch United believes the bid reflects the very identity of the town and the people who make it special.

Chairman David Faulkner said:
“We are incredibly proud to support Redditch’s bid to become Town of Culture 2028. This town has a rich history, a passionate community and a growing cultural scene that deserves national recognition. At Redditch United, we see every week how football brings people together, and we believe culture does the same. This bid is about civic pride, about telling our story, and about creating something lasting for future generations.”

Redditch United’s commitment to culture and community will be on full display later this month, as the club hosts its Football and Free Music Festival on Saturday 25 April at the Valley Stadium. The event combines live music, entertainment and football in a day designed for all ages, featuring tribute acts, DJs, food vendors and a family-friendly atmosphere alongside the club’s final home game of the season.

Supporters can enjoy both the match and the live entertainment with standard matchday admission. Early bird ticket prices are set at £12 for adults, £9 for concessions and £5 for 14-17 or students, with free entry for under 13s when accompanied by an adult. There is no additional charge for the music festival, making it an accessible day out for the whole community. Tickets are on sale now via www.redditchunited.co.uk

More than just a matchday, the festival highlights the club’s ongoing role in developing and celebrating culture within the town. By bringing together sport, music and community activity, it reflects the same values at the heart of the Town of Culture bid.

From grassroots initiatives to major community events, Redditch United continues to play its part in strengthening civic pride and creating opportunities for people to connect, celebrate and belong.

The club encourages supporters, residents and local organisations to get behind the bid and help showcase everything that makes Redditch a town worth celebrating.
