Redditch United secured their second league win as they ran out 2-1 winners against Racing Club Warwick, despite being down to ten men. Robbie Bunn opened the scoring early on, before goals from Archie Hemp and Szhem Whyte-Hall in the second half, sealed off a thrilling fixture.
There was one change to the lineup as Robbie Bunn returned to the squad to replace Billy Fielding, who made the bench.
It was a perfect start for the Reds as some quality play down the right released Harrison Hazard in behind, who squared it back across goal for Robbie Bunn, who smashed home the opener in the fourth minute.
The skipper came close with a second as an effort from range flew just over the bar, before Aram Soleman hit the side netting from close.
Rory Brown was called into action twice in the space of two minutes, as he superbly denied a header at the near post and then was forced to tip over a dipping strike from distance.
In the 35th minute, the referee awarded a penalty to Racing Club Warwick, after he deemed Alex Foreshaw to have handled the ball in the box, and there were no complaints from the Redditch man. James Harding stepped up, but hit the left post and Redditch found themselves with a lucky escape.
Just before the break, Soleman found some space inside the box and his curling effort looked to be going in, but Tom Allsopp’s fingertip save tipped it round the post.
Shortly after the restart, Rory Brown pulled off a great low save to hold the lead.
Substitute Aaron Bishop looked to have been brought down by Kyle Barnett and there was an off the ball incident, which led to Bishop being shown a straight red card by the referee.
Warwick continued to apply pressure, but Redditch held on well. However, in the 84th minute, Archie Hamp would equalise when his header looped into the top corner.
Jimmy Fry’s men did not give up and the man in-form, Szhem Whyte-Hall, found himself on the scoresheet yet again, as he headered in the winner from a set piece, just minutes after the equaliser.
