Redditch United suffered a consecutive defeat for the first time this season, as as a trip to Leiston saw the hosts run out 3-1 winners. Harvey Sayer scored a quick brace, followed by a third by Adam Mills in the first half, before Harrison Hazard brought one back in the second half.
There were two changes to the lineup from the defeat to Bromsgrove as Charlie Knowles was handed his first start in place of Robbie Bunn, and Tyler Bruck came into the starting XI over Danny King.
It was a scrappy start to the game and Jenson Sumnall picked early up a booking in the 13th minute during his battle with Willie Clemons on the right hand side.
Alex Cameron did well to intercept a back pass from the hosts and skimmed the defender as he ran towards goal. He fired low towards the near post, but the Callum Robinson did well to tip it round the post.
In the 24th minute, Leiston would find themselves ahead, after Harvey Sayer cut inside from the right hand side and smashed in a low effort into the near post to make it 1-0.
Only five minutes later, Sayer cut inside once again and doubled the hosts’ lead, scoring a carbon copy of his first goal.
Harrison Hazard found himself on the end of a cross and his header came close, as the goalkeeper was forced into tipping it just over the bar.
Just before the break, Adam Mills scored a third when he turned in Seb Dunbar’s cross from the left hand side.
Robbie Bunn and Danny King were introduced at half-time in place of Charlie Knowles and Joel Shambrook.
Sumnall saw a header fly just over the bar, before Harrison Hazard cut inside from the right-hand side and smashed one into the back of the net, scoring his first goal for the club.
Redditch continued to apply the pressure as they hammered Leiston’s box, and Tyler Bruck came close to scoring a second.
10 minutes later, King’s deflected cross was scrambled away by Robinson, before Cameron came close but hit the frame of the goal.
There was a large brawl at the end of the match, which saw Aram Soleman shown a straight red card by the referee, and eventually the game was brought to a conclusion by the final whistle.
