Duo Depart for New Challenge

We can today confirm the departures of Ryan Wollacott and Reece Flanagan who have both declined improved contract offers.

Ryan Wollacott, 29, joined the Club in 2021 and in those three seasons cemented himself as an ever present in the defensive line. Wollacott racked up 146 appearances in his time as a Red and helped us to achieve a play-off spot last year.

Reece Flanagan, also 29, was given the armband last season and with the help of his leadership, we achieved our highest League finish since 2015/16. The midfielder scored 18 goals in the League, finishing as our top goalscorer as well as finishing as the joint 4th top goalscorer in the League. Flanagan joined the Reds in the 2022/23 season and went on to make 92 appearances for the Club.

We’d like to thank them both for all of their hard work, efforts, memories made and time given to the Club in the past few years. All of us at Redditch United wish them nothing but the best in their future careers. Thank you, Ryan & Reece.

On their departures the Chairman, David Faulkner, commented; “Today is a sad day for our club as both players are great lads from fantastic families. We would have loved to have kept them for the following season, and we tried everything to retain their services offering deals to them that are probably the best ever offered to players in the clubs history. Unfortunately for us, they would like to seek a new challenge and the duo will depart with our very best wishes.

The Club remain in negotiations with the rest of our players, and our manager search will be coming to an end very shortly.
